Hi everyone! I’m so glad you’re here visiting my take on our Thanksgiving tablescape this year. Today, I’m joining a group of blogger friends to share inspiration for a Thanksgiving tablescape as well as a family recipe. We hope that it can help you get a start on planning that Thanksgiving dinner especially if you’re in charge of hosting this year.

For my birthday, my husband came home with the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers. After a week of enjoying the pretty flowers, I cut them short and decided to use them for a tablescape. The jewel toned shades of the flowers became my inspiration for this particular table.

I took one of my favorite scarves that has some beautiful hues and just placed it along the center of the table.

I added some vintage brass candlesticks and decorated the table with my DIY painted pumpkins. The vintage looking glassware were bought a while back from Homegoods.

The Dirilyte flatware was an awesome score from a garage sale and totally worth all the polishing. The gold embellished dinner plates were from the Williams and Sonoma outlet.

I love that everything on this tablescape came from things I already owned. Thanksgiving doesn’t always have to be neutral colors or orange and brown.

Now, for the family recipe! Every time I make my double chocolate chip banana bread, it gets devoured.

My youngest, Emmy is always quick to help me in the kitchen because she knows she gets to eat the chocolate chips.

It’s the perfect dessert with some ice cream after a hearty Thanksgiving meal. I also love making this in big batches and taking them to potluck dinners or as a hostess gift. I’ve copied the recipe here again.

Double Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour (i like to use 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup whole wheat white flour)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 to 1 cup chocolate chips (i prefer dark chocolate chips)

Mix all the wet ingredients in a bowl and then slowly add in the dry ingredients. Add the chocolate chips last. Bake at 350 degrees for at least 30 minutes or until the bread bounces back. It’s so perfect right out of the oven. Good luck eating just one piece! Try it for Thanksgiving if you’re looking for something besides pumpkin pie.
